Aloha friends,

We’re excited to share the beginning of a new chapter for our community. The Ahonui Homestead Association has officially launched its first project—focused on mālama (care) and kuleana (responsibility) for the land we call home in Ualapue, Molokai.

Our first area of focus is a 2.5-acre parcel of community-use land located on the east side of Water Tank Road. This land is a piko, a central gathering place, and holds great potential for healing, growing, and reconnecting with ʻāina.

What We’re Doing

With guidance from our kupuna and community members, we’ve started clearing and preparing the land for future use. Our vision includes:

  • Native planting – ʻUlu, kalo, ʻuala, kukui, and other plants that feed both body and spirit.

  • Lāʻau lapaʻau garden – A space for traditional healing herbs and medicine.

  • Community gathering area – A place for learning, sharing, and cultural restoration.

Why It Matters

This project is not just about land—it’s about reclaiming our connection to place, heritage, and each other. It’s about living aloha ʻāina, where stewardship is rooted in love, patience (ahonui), and a shared vision for a healthier future.

Join Us

We invite everyone who feels called to contribute—through volunteering, donating materials, sharing stories, or simply offering encouragement. Together, we can build something lasting and rooted deeply in the values of Molokai.

Mahalo nui for your support. Stay tuned for updates and workdays. We’re just getting started!

With aloha and gratitude,

Ahonui Homestead Association
